Washington Guaranteed Admissions Program Expands Access Across the State

Now in its fourth year, the Washington Guaranteed Admissions Program (WAGAP) has expanded to include 132 public school districts and 17 additional schools across Washington, including public, charter, tribal, and private schools (see the full list of partner schools here). WAGAP sends a clear message to high school students: if you aspire to earn a bachelor’s degree, there’s a place for you at one of Washington’s public four-year universities.

Participating WAGAP Universities

The WAGAP initiative includes all six public universities in Washington:

  • Central Washington University
  • Eastern Washington University
  • The Evergreen State College
  • University of Washington Tacoma
  • Washington State University
  • Western Washington University

Expanding College Access and Awareness

The primary goal of WAGAP is to reach students who may not have considered pursuing a college education or who feel unprepared for it. Many participating districts report direct high school-to-college enrollment rates below the state average of 50%, underscoring the need for enhanced college awareness and opportunities.

Breaking Down Barriers to Higher Education

By collaborating closely with K-12 schools, Washington’s public universities are actively engaging with students who may not initially see higher education in their future. This initiative aims to break down barriers and communicate a vital message: Washington’s public universities are ready and eager to welcome all students.

Supporting Washington’s Youth Through Education

As this coalition progresses, it remains dedicated to supporting the aspirations of Washington’s youth and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to pursue higher education.
